Famous Vinayagar Temples

Lord Ganesha who has an elephantine face and a huge belly, due to his fondness of Kozhakkattai (indian rice cakes) is one of the most famous God. He is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.Lord ganesha, the powerful god,widely worshipped as a god of good luck,prosperity, wisdom and begining the buisness and start of travel. Ganesh Chaturthi is important festival celebrated by the devotees.

karpaga vinayagar temple

                                                                 


It is one of the oldest cave temple and situated in pillayarpatti,It is between pudukottai and karaikudi. Vinayagar Chaturthi is celebrated for 10 days in this temple. In this temple, 6feet of vinayagar has been carved inside and Lord Ganesha appears with 2 hands and other temples seen with  4 hands.The temple opens at 6 in the morning and stays open till 1 PM. The shrine is again opened at 4PM and is open till 8.30 PM.


Uchhi Pillayar Temple
                                                   
                                                     

It is the 7th century temple and dedicated to ganesha. It is located at Thiruchirappalli and about 124km from madurai and 320km from chennai. The shrine is at a height of 273 ft and you have to climb over 400 steps to reach the pinnacle.The Rock Fort temple complex in Tiruchirappalli is a collection of three temples – the Manikka Vinayaka temple at the foot of the hill, the Uchhi Pillayar Koyil at the top of the hill and the Taayumaanava Koyil (Shivastalam) on the hill. The temple opens at 6.00am to 8.00pm.


Adhi vinayagar temple

                              

This temple is situated at thiruvarur and dedicated to Lord Ganesha. There are 7 sthalams for performing these rituals viz. Kasi, Rameswaram, Srivanchiyam, Thiruvenkadu, Gaya, Thiriveni Sangamam & Thilatharpanapuri. The temple opens at 5.00am to 8.00pm.
